Nicole Martin is a cast member on The Real Housewives of Miami, Bravo’s reality TV series following the personal and professional lives of wealthy women living in Miami, Florida. The series—which is a part of Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise featuring 11 cities across the world—premiered in 2011 and was canceled in 2013. It was rebooted by Peacock, NBC Universal’s streaming service, in 2021 after almost a decade off the air. The Real Housewives of Miami moved from Peacock to Bravo in 2023 in Season 6, which premiered in November 2023. Nicole joined The Real Housewives of Miami in Season 5.
As Bravo fans know, Nicole’s relationship with her father, Miguel, has had its ups and downs. Earlier in her time on The Real Housewives of Miami, Nicole revealed that her father was arrested and in prison for money laundering when she was younger, leaving her mother, Sirel, to raise Nicole and her brother as a single mom. While Nicole’s mother forgave her father, Nicole explained that she still had resentment toward her dad, which was seen in a tense conversation in The Real Housewives of Miami Season 6.

How did Nicole’s dad die from The Real Housewives of Miami?
The Real Housewives of Miami star Nicole Martin announced the death of her father, Miguel Alberto Martin, in an Instagram post on November 19, 2023. “I haven’t been able to find the words and still can’t,”she captioned a series of Instagram photos of her and her dad together. “Everything happened so fast and it still doesn’t seem real. Part of me is still waiting for one of your crazy phone calls. So many things left unsaid and moments we didn’t share. Trying not to dwell on the missed moments and focusing on the improvements we made. You had a zest for life and I know you’re having a party up in heaven. Rest in peace dad. Love you. 🙏❤️🥹.”
Many of Nicole’s Real Housewives of Miami co-stars took to her Instagram comments to express their condolences for her father’s death. Alexia Nepola wrote, “I’m sorry for your loss. Sending you love and light.” Larsa Pippen commented, “So sorry for your loss. Sending u lots of love and prayers 🙏🏼.”
Nicole introduced her father on The Real Housewives of Miami Season 4, her first season. In The Real Housewives of Miami Season 5 finale, Nicole and her father took part in a joint therapy session to try to improve their relationship. “My dad is an old-school Cuban man and my dad is used to living his best life with little regard for anyone else,” Nicole said in a confessional interview the episode. She went on to explain that she distanced herself from her father growing up because “I didn’t know how to do anything else any other way.”
Nicole explained in The Real Housewives of Miami that her father was jailed for money laundering when she was younger, leaving her mother, Sirel, to raise her and her brother as a single mom. She went on to explain how the birth of her son, Greyson, with her fiance, Anthony Lopez, made her want to repair her relationship with her father. “I know this isn’t going to be easy. But I know I’ve gotta let this go if there’s any hopes of having, you know, a true bond with my dad,” she said in a confessional interview.
During an episode of Watch What Happens Live in February 2023, Nicole revealed that she and her dad were in a “much better place” after filming ended on The Real Housewives of Miami Season 5. “I think viewers will get to see our therapy and sessions and journey through this, but yes, we are in a much better place,” she said. “I feel like it was an elephant in the room for years, and because of the show, we kind of had to face that our relationship wasn’t ideal and we had to talk about things and we ultimately ended up in therapy. I don’t think I would have done that [if it weren’t for the show].”
