Ever since Christine’s exit, Nicole has found herself as the new villain of Selling Sunset. But did she take her role too far with allegations that Emma had an affair with a married man? Their Selling Sunset cast members sure think so.
During Selling Sunset Season 5, Nicole Young, who joined in Season 6 as a replacement for former villain Christine Quinn, claimed she heard a rumor from a “source” that Emma Hernan, who joined in Season 4, had an affair with a married man. “I wish I didn’t know. It involves Emma and that’s all I wanna say,” Nicole said in a scene with other cast members, not including Emma. “It’s morally upsetting to all of us. It’s just information that could really affect families, marriages and Emma’s reputation.”
She continued, “I wouldn’t do anything. Just like I haven’t done anything, I wouldn’t. Because I don’t know anything. That’s why we’re all being awkward and weird about it. But as a married woman, that kind of shit pisses me off. “If I were the wife, I’d fucking kill someone. But my husband also would never in a million years. … You know I’m going to get murdered for this. She would literally burn me at the stake.”
Nicole, who never brought the rumor to Emma throughout Selling Sunset Season 5, also reiterated what she heard in a confessional interview in Episode 10, where she called Emma “hypocritical” for supporting Chelsea amid her divorce from her ex-husband, Jeff Lakzani, who allegedly cheated on her, when there were similar infidelity rumors around Emma.
“I did hear from a reliable source that Emma has likely had relations with a married man,” Nicole said. “If Chelsea is going through what I think she’s going through, it’s pretty messed up that Emma would act so righteous about it. Don’t throw stones if you live in a glass house. I think if roles were reversed, I don’t think she’d go out of her way to protect a rumor she’d heard about me.”
She continued, “There’s certain people you shouldn’t be romantically involved with. Particularly if certain people have, I don’t know, certain jewelry on certain parts of their fingers. If you’re not part of that union, you probably shouldn’t be involved with them.”

The answer seems to be no, according to the cast. In an interview with Us Weekly, Emma’s Selling Sunset cast mate, Mary Fitzgerald, revealed that she talked to Emma after Nicole’s claim that she had an affair with a married man and Emma explained the situation, which was “nothing like” the situation Nicole portrayed.
“Emma explained it to me but it was nothing like what Nicole said,” Mary said, adding that she had “no idea” where Nicole got the rumor from. “So I just feel really bad that she’s going to be put into that light. In my opinion, even if something like that happened, I don’t agree with it. But you don’t do that to the world — you don’t blast someone out like that.”
Mary—who was a part of the scene where Nicole first brought up the rumors, along with Amanza Smith and new cast member Alanna Gold—confirmed to Us Weekly that she didn’t believe the rumors. “I don’t want any part of this,” Mary said. “Emma is a very sweet girl and I feel bad for her being portrayed like that.” Mary added of Emma, “She’s very picky with who she dates. So I can’t imagine it’s true.”
While Emma hasn’t responded to the rumors, at the time of writing, Mary told Us Weekly that Emma has been “extremely upset” ever since she learned that Nicole accused her of being the other woman in a married man’s relationship. “I feel bad. She doesn’t deserve to be called out like that,” Mary said. “Especially the fact that it’s not true.”
Mary also maintained that she didn’t know Nicole planned to bring up the rumors about Emma’s alleged affair on camera until she did. “We didn’t know she was gonna do that. I don’t think any of us even thought anything about it. So I don’t know why it got brought up. I still don’t remember why it was brought up,” Mary said. “But it’s going to cause some problems for sure.”
After learning of Nicole’s allegations against Emma, Emma’s Selling Sunset cast mates and close friends, Chrishell Stause and Chelsea Lakzani, slammed Nicole on Instagram, accusing her of lying about the rumor to have more screen time. “Someone needs to take my phone [because] 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. Are we really still giving air time to LIARS that just want air time??” Chrishell wrote in an Instagram Story at the time. “I will NEVER work on a show with her on it again. I would rather be sued.”
She continued, “Disclaimer when you watch: Just know she spews a disgusting lie about a bestie that is categorically FALSE and SUPER damaging. It is NOT TRUE. [and] @done_and_done_productions you are disgusting for blindsiding [my friend] with this to see with the world instead of letting her at LEAST defend herself with the TRUTH.”
Chelsea, for her part, also called Chelsea “diabolical” for her attempt at tarnishing Emma’s character. “@itsnicoleyoung, you are the most diabolical piece of [trash] I’ve ever met, you wanna start a rumor about Emma because all the rumors about you are true. OK, let’s see how this works out for you… Spreading lies for views is so damaging,” she wrote in her own Instagram Story. Emma thanked Chelsea and Chrishell for their support.
