Blake Brown Conditioner Isn’t Coming Anytime Soon and Here’s Why

As you may know Blake Lively recently launched a haircare collection called Blake Brown which is named after her dad (her real name is actually Blake Brown and her dad took on the surname Lively but his real surname is Brown). The collection includes shampoos, dry shampoo, hair masks, and a leave-in spray conditioner but a cream conditioner? Nope, you won’t find a Blake Brown Conditioner in the collection. Maybe you’re wondering why there isn’t a Blake Brown Conditioner available? Well, before we get into that we should address the fact that Blake Lively is exactly pro-conditioner. All that glorious hair and our girl is out there battling the world without a conditioner in her shower. She was recently quoted in Vouge saying, “I don’t know anyone who uses conditioner in my industry.”

Ok, wait, excuse me. You have that long wild hair and you aren’t using conditioner? Girl, if I went out of the house without conditioner I’d have a bird’s nest on top of my head. According to her people in “the industry” are using a different hair system than the process promoted to the market. She basically means, those of us that are using shampoo followed by conditioner might just be doing it wrong. But baby, if I’m wrong I never want to be right because this head of hair needs its conditioner.
Her process is to buy two shampoos and two hairs one for hydration and one that strengthens. After that it’s a simply method of swapping what you use. So, apply your shampoo, rinse, smooth on a hair mask for 30 seconds, rinse and the next time you shower go with the other line up. You can swap out the moisture method versus the strengthening one with each hair wash. I wash my hair everyday. It’s long, it’s wavy, it needs a lot of love and attention so, I’m not really sure about the “no need for conditioner” method. I’m also, a little unsure on doing a hair mask every single day. I suspect Blake is probably washing her hair twice a week or something because no way, is she doing a hair mask each and every single day. Granted, hair masks typically contain the same ingredients as your conditioner but they are just a different texture and that normally means thicker and creamier. But doing a hair mask daily does seem a bit much to me. Not that she recommended that but just saying, if I were to use her method and do my normal routine it might not work out.
She went on to explain to Vouge, “A hairstylist explained to me that this process could save it. If you give hair strength, you give it foundation, structure, and stability. But if you only give it strength, it’s going to become brittle and hard. So it also needs moisture and elasticity. But if you give it too much, it’ll break.” Apparently, if you swap out our routine it’ll even you exactly what it requires and her Blake Brown Haircare Collection does that with two shampoos and two hair masks to addresses moisture and strength. “People think of hair masks as more of a specialty product or a one-off treatment,” she says. “But I use it every single time like I use conditioner.”
Blake Brown has literally flown off the shelves at Target and proves impossible to find. I’m in Italy at the moment but it launched before I left and I tried finding it but no luck. The displays are there but the products are gone. A lot of it is sold out online as well at the time but thankfully, it is available now at target.com. I’ve been in contact with my sister on and off since leaving for vacation and I asked her about it and she’s had the same luck and ended up finally getting some online!
Here’s my hot take. Blake will change her mind about conditioner…! Why? Blake Brown is obviously doing great and that means we’ll get new products in the future for sure and conditioner is a pretty popular product in everyone’s haircare routine. Will Blake stick with her no conditioner rule or give the masses what they want? I think there’s a chance she’ll change her mind but we’ll have to wait and see.
What do you think of her no conditioner needed rule?
