I can’t begin to tell you how many drugstore concealers I’ve been crushingly disappointed by (but never you L’Oreal Visible Lift Blur Concealer) because they are so terribly dry. Don’t get me return the drugstore concealer world has stepped up its game in recent years but I don’t think it’s quite there yet. One day I want to walk into a drugstore and be faced with an endless array of pigmented yet hydrating concealers.
Until that day comes here’s a makeup hack to add moisture to dry concealers or maybe sheer out thick ones (I’m talking to you It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer).
So maybe you’re like me and you have a makeup graveyard filled with dry concealers.
Here’s the makeup hack to making to moist and wearable! Take the concealer and swipe a generous layer on the back of your hand, now take a tiny drop of your favorite facial oil and mix it right into the concealer with a brush. Now apply it under your eyes! Presto! Your dry concealer will be nicely hydrating, easier to apply and blend out, and likely won’t crease into pesky finer lines courtesy the new, improved formula.
Now one of the top rants about It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer would be it is too thick! Personally, I’ve never minded this but some folks struggle with the formula not only is it thick but it has a very emollient formula which means you might struggle during application or blending.
No problem, use the same trick above to sheer it out or any other super thick, creamy concealer you might need. This time around though you might want to play a little with the amount of oil you want. Typically if I’m sheering out a very pigmented, thick formula I use two drops of oil. This might be a little too much for some folks so play a little and see what works best for you. This not only sheers out thicker formulas but it also makes them considerably easier to apply as it thins the consistency out considerably which in turn allows for easier blendability.
